About The Hunt
The Mudman Hunt was originally devised in Ketchikan, Alaska. Over the first 5 months I placed 14 Mudmen. 13 out of the 14 were found. 1 being lost to the elements.
This is an invitation to adventure and inspiration to get outside. If you accept this invitation you may find yourself in another part of the world, surrounded by the unfamiliar, and challenged by what you must do. You may be asked to do things that are out of your comfort zone such as jumping from a plane or eating insects for appetizers. (All of which I will do first.) Along with each Mudman that is hidden, I will supply clues including; a riddle, photos & videos of the trek itself, and you may also follow the travels that I post on the home page blog to offer another clue along the way.
These Mudmen will be hidden not on the trail but not far off. Perhaps it will be in plain sight but perchance it may not. Follow the clues to discover where he lies.
The Mudmen are the fuel for your adventure. Each unique figure is handmade by myself. I have tried to stay as true as possible to the ideals of Leave No Trace, I hope that you will too. Each Mudman is created with natural clay treated and sterilized so not to transport anything invasive or harmful to the environments they are placed in. If the Mudman is lost to the elements it will erode and return to its natural clay form. If found it is yours to take with you as a memento of your adventure and a companion for your journey home. But don't forget to email me with a proposed hunt and send me a picture so I can post the finding.
My name is Patrick. I am by nature a traveler, by trade an artist. For almost a decade I have been a seasonal employee in Ketchikan, Alaska. Otherwise I am traveling looking for new experiences. But even before I was in Alaska I had an urge for adventure. I grew up a fan of history, archaeology, art, and theatre. I dreamt of being like Indiana Jones or Alan Grant. I always wanted to find hidden treasures. But in the last 29 years I've come up with nothing except the lose change I sometimes find on the ground or in a couch. Although I have found no such treasures of the historical kind, I have found many treasures in the experiences I've had, the people I've met, and the places I've been to. Which is why now, I have decided to give something back to those that want it. I have created this treasure hunt, not as a game, but as an invitation. An invitation for adventure. Follow me on a journey to some of the most beautiful places on this world we are so fortunate to live on.
Safe Travels and Happy Hunting,
